How to Sign Up for Newsletters Without the Spam

TempMailbox Team··4 min read

You can read every newsletter you want without ever giving them a way to chase you afterwards.

Most "great" newsletters are great twice and then forgettable. The problem is unsubscribing once you have lost interest is suspiciously slow, and ignoring them clutters your inbox forever.

Try-before-you-commit

Sign up with a disposable address. Read a few editions in your disposable inbox. If it is a keeper, re-subscribe with your real address. If it is not, do nothing — the disposable address dies and the newsletter dies with it.

When you find a keeper

  • Subscribe with your real address (or a permanent alias)
  • Set up a Gmail/Outlook filter to land it in a "Reading" label
  • Skip the inbox so it never interrupts you

You get the content, you keep the inbox calm, and you never feel guilty about unsubscribing again. A 10-minute mail is usually all you need for the first read.
